Valentine's Day

What kind of person would I be if I didn't post something in ode of this lovely holiday?
Pun intended. ;)

This is a picture book for all ages. "Love Letters" is written by Arnold Adoff. Twenty poems written in different children's voices. I love the cover of this book . . . and I haven't stopped to read it yet this year, but this book could be found on our youth display case this month; in fact, as of this writing it's status is still on display. Entitled "February Holidays," this display features children's books about Groundhog Day, President's Washington and Lincoln and Valentines were all included. Which reminds me. Monday, February 18th all LCL libraries will be closed for President's Day! Hurrah, break time. Sorry kids, ("evil cackle") sounds like you still have to attend school. . . .
And for those adults out there . . . . how about reading some poems from Nebraskan poet, Ted Kooser? Simply called "Valentines," this is a collection of poems that Kooser sent to women friends spanning the years of 1986 to 2007. Here's a quote about the book from amazon.com:

"'If it was Ted’s sacred mission to satisfy the hearts
of women, he has succeeded. One exquisite valentine every year—the answer, at
last, to what women want.”—Louise Erdrich"

(Interesting factoid: Ted Kooser was our U.S. Poet Laureate from 2004-2006.)
