Lemons and Limes

This lemon and lime fabric has been destined to become an apron.  In fact that is why I bought it a couple of years ago, for that very purpose.  But I had never envisioned it to be a paneled type apron until yesterday, when I came across this BurdaStyle sewing contest in the inbox of my email.   It's actually a partnership between Burda and a site called The Sewing Republic.  I'd never head of Sewing Republic before.  They also have some free craft projects from blogger contributers.  I've already got an eye on my next project.  An adorable knit hat.  Hmm. . .maybe I could finish that tonight yet. . .
This is not the photo I'm submitting to the contest though, because I have a feeling someone should actually be wearing it, and not a chair!  I'm glad it's a photo contest and not the actual item being  inspected because the zigzag is not perfect.  But that gives it character, right?  I was using up leftover yellow thread, and wouldn't you know it but I would run out . . .I've had that annoying yellow quilter's thread for probably 4 years now and am glad to be rid of it.  So a tad lighter yellow was used along with some white when I "appliqued" the fruit onto the pocket. Fifty entries will be chosen and put up on a slide show for voting-- makes me wonder hope many submissions they typically have submitted.  I'm probably competing against thousands.  After all , it's open to all US residents.  Visitors to the site will then vote on the winners.  I'm excited to see what all the variations are to this pattern.  I didn't stray too much from the origional, but over all I'm satisfied with the finished product.  I'd wear it, so that's what counts.  Now, who wants lemonade?
